Why should I go to SI?

Supplemental Instruction sessions are intentionally designed in collaboration with professors. Our SI Leaders make sure they know what concepts are going to be on exams and plan their sessions with activities that reinforce that content. Data has shown that students who attend SI sessions earn higher grades. We also run campaigns throughout the semester where students can enter for a chance to win prizes for attending SI sessions!

Where can I find the schedule?

The SI session schedule is created weekly and emailed to students each week. We also post the schedule on our Instagram (@tctcsi) and Facebook page (@TriCountySI).

You can also find the schedule on our website here.

Where are the sessions held?

SI sessions are held at the Tri-County Pendleton Campus in the Learning Commons in the Student Success Center. We also host virtual sessions on Zoom - you can find links to those sessions here. We host late-night sessions at Clemson University in the Lightsey Bridge Commons as well.

All Tri-County students are welcome to attend sessions at any location!

How do I know who my SI Leader is?

Our SI Leaders support biology, chemistry, math, and physics courses. While we don't have an SI Leader in every class section, anyone enrolled in a course can attend a session!

What happens in SI sessions?

SI sessions are peer-led collaborative study sessions facilitated by SI Leaders - fellow students who have taken the class previously and earned an "A". The SI Leaders also attend the class alongside the students and work closely with professors so they are well equipped to help with the material! The goal of SI sessions is to help students learn and engage with the material. Our SI Leaders will offer help and will guide students through concepts, but they will not re-teach material or offer 1:1 tutoring.

SI sessions include practice problems, learning games like Jeopardy, and practice exams. Expect to work with other students to learn concepts in fun, relaxed and collaborative environment!

I want 1-on-1 tutoring - can I get that from  SI?

Our SI Leaders do not offer 1-on-1 tutoring during sessions. However, sometimes they offer tutoring outside of their roles as SI Leaders. We encourage students to reach out to them individually if they are interested in tutoring opportunities.

Tri-County also offers Tutoring Services in the Learning Commons-
