About Our Program

Who We Are
Bridge to Clemson and Tri-County Technical College's Supplemental Instruction (SI) program was established in 2009 and serves as an academic support resource for students attending historically difficult courses (defined as having high D/F/W rates) in Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Engineering.
Our program is an adaptation of the original initiative founded at the University of Missouri-Kansas City by Dr. Deanna Martin in 1973 to improve learning, student performance, and retention.
What We Do
Our SI program offers a series of weekly group review sessions for students enrolled in difficult Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Engineering courses at Tri-County Technical College. Sessions are free, anonymous, and open for all students who are registered for a SI-supported course.
SI sessions are held in-person, as well as virtually, 2 to 3 times per week on both Clemson's and Tri-County's campus. The sessions are facilitated by an SI Leader - a fellow student who has taken the class previously and earned an A. Our SI Leaders go through a series of trainings to learn how to engage students in sessions to promote a fun and active learning environment using collaborative activities and group discussions.
